Sea Day

 Friday, November 14, 2025

At last, a leisurely day and I'm feeling much better.  No more sore throat!  Maureen took over my job last night of ordering room service and she did a fine job.  Unfortunately, the room-service folks got our order and Ma and Robin's mixed up so that we got their tray and they got ours.  Luckily we are all together and so it was just a matter of "Did you order a croissant?" and "Do you have our decaf?" until everyone had their own goodies.

It's time to get dressed and when Robin walks in she is wearing the exact same shirt as Maureen - right down to the color!!  Of all the shirts at the Mountain Top yesterday they chose the same one!  And they got Ma the same one in pink!!  Maureen says this happens all the time!

The big thrill is seeing another ship!  It's going the other way and we can't quite see who she is;  but she's probably either Royal Caribbean or Celebrity to be using the same sea lanes.

This is the last sea day and so everything on Deck 5 is on display and much of it is on sale. So, that's fun!! I buy a cute little black thing to go over black pants and a black shirt for the theater (or dress-up night on the ship!). It's only ten dollars so it's hard to go wrong!

Maintenance goes on 24/7

And everyone likes to have his picture taken!

There will be another staging of the boat parade today.

And the captain and high-ranking officers are on Deck 5 to answer questions.  Ma needs her picture taken with the captain and Maureen wants to talk to the only woman in the group.  turns out she is in charge of everything that isn't about driving the ship!  And her daughter is on the bridge of another RC ship, working her way up to being a captain!

We take a brief turn around the walking/running track and then go looking for areas we haven't explored yet.  There's a great area on Deck 14 for the kids with quite a large staff to take care of them.

This is also the deck from which we would access the lifeboats in an emergency.

Hard to believe it would hold 370 people!!

A word to the wise!

We stop by the rooms to drop off our stuff and discover that we have an elephant joining us!!

Blustery day on Deck 16!

Fun for those who actually read signs!

Then it's time for lunch, because the food is never ending!  It doesn't matter how strong your resolve might be.  There's always too much on your plate!

And today there's a chocolate fountain!

                                                                        It's a trifecta!

The weather outside is looking pretty wet and drizzly so we wait around a while and watch the rain.  When we are finally ready to leave we see the staff lined up in the hall with balloon hats!!  We have to see what this is about!  One of the officers introduces the head chef and all the other folks and then they all begin marching around the entire Windjammer clapping along to the music!  We meet them again as they are coming out the other end and one of the girls plops her balloon hat on my head!  And other goes to Robin but she gives it to Maureen!  We wear them proudly as we make our way back to the rooms.  In the elevator one man asks if anyone has a pin!

This is how we keep track of what is where!

It's down time!  I'm blogging and Maureen is on the balcony.  I think Ma and Robin are having a siesta. There's a water show at 3:00 and 3:45 but I think we're blowing off both of those.  Better to be rested and healthy!

Yep, sure enough, the very next thing that happens is dinner!!  Well, there is a glass of wine before we leave, but who's counting!! It's another fancy dress night and I get to wear my new over thing with a black t-shirt turned inside out so it's all black!  Ma has one too, but she isn't wearing it tonight so we won't look like the Bobbsey Twins!

For a change we beat Dean to our table! Even our waiter is surprised and asks if he is coming!! And he is.  Dinner is lovely as always, and too much food, as always! While we're eating, Ossie, the head waiter, comes by to check on us and to invite us to a tour of the galley tomorrow morning!

                                                                 Vidalia Onion Tart

                                                                 Maine Lobster Tail

Baked Alaska.  They no longer serve it aflame after the curtains caught on fire!

The traditional dance around the dining room

After dinner we kill some time listening to the jazz band, then go to the Schooner Bar to wait for Alan, our new favorite pianist. I order a rusty nail because I can make that last all night! After quite a while it is 8:30 and promptly we near the tickling of the piano.  The first set it all Elton John and lots of fun.  Ma and Robin pack it in early and a couple from Ohio come to claim their seats.  She runs a day care and is awfully cute!

The second set is movie tunes and is also a sing along!  It would be great to stay for the next set;  but that isn't going to happen!  Those days are long gone!  However, we have to pass Sorrento's where the pizzas are free and we finally succumb to the siren't call! When you dine at 5:00, you can have pizza at 10:30!! We learn the next morning that Robin, too, fell into the evil pizza's clutches and she bought the cute little black number that I wore to dinner!!
