Heading Home

It's time to start retooling the brain! But first Maureen and Robin are making an early morning Starbucks run and who am I to turn down a chai latte and blueberry muffin?? After all, there's not going to be a continuous flow of food any more! We are finally treated to a sunrise!! And watch the city of Miami greeting the new day.
We're all sitting on our balconies with our morning treats and soon the seagulls discover us! Gulp!
We finish up, put our PJs and toiletries in our carry ons (or offs!) and go looking for Ma's wheelchair. There is a special room so those who need assistance and it all goes so smoothly. We are escorted to the huge area with all the luggage neatly arranged by the numbers we were assigned yesterday. One porter is responsible for Ma and another has a dolly on which he loads all the suitcases. We go through the facial recognition process and do not need our passports. But Ma is sitting below the level of the camera and she goes to a different line. Quite quickly she's back and we head out to the parking garage.

I've got the picture we took when we park and it is a breeze to find our car. The luggage guy is a pro and doesn't bet a eye when Maureen says, "Oh, by the way, this all has to go in a Camry"! We're all loaded and out of the garage by 8:30!! The GPS guides us out of the port, out of Miami, and onto I-95! (I've got a bit of a cough and so I'm wearing a mask in the car. Just seems prudent in this small, enclosed space.

We stop at a couple of rest stops and they are both very clean and well appointed. They even tell you where you are which could come in handy! And we stop once for gas and snacks. And even with all that, and taking Robin home, I still get home before three!! Maureen's directions to get out of her neighborhood were flawless. It takes the cats a while to realize that I'm home!! But by the time we go to bed they are so eager to have their pets and loves that they are even willing to put up with each other!
It was a delightful cruise with marvelous, funny, smart, and caring people!! I guess Maureen will have to go up to Dean's to collect Ma's walker; but we could never have put it in the car!!! It's good to be home!
As always, your pictures enhance your words. We were so excited to cruise on Symphony after reading your blog entries. And we had a good time too! Thanks for sharing! Courtenay
